Windows vista full of problems?

Rob asked:

Quote . Vista on the other hand is finished software, there are still serious problems with a lot of hardware drivers, and a lot of standard software will NOT run on it.Quote

What hardware drivers problems or software problems.

Quote This is because it changed away from the previous NT system for hardware and software handling and would not tell anyone what the changes are unless they were registered, certified and prepared to bow down to Microsoft. Quote

What do you mean ? And what is the point of registered, certified ?

Quote 7 has already beaten most of these problems. And with this limited a knowledge you will NOT like Linux. It requires some experience to configure. It also does not include all the software Windows systems come with, as restrictive licences prevent the provision of these. And you will not be able to run windows programs on it at all.Quote

Is it true that 90% of the games and software will not run or work well on Linux?

It probably means someone installed Vista on some old junk PC and didnt consider the requirements. Mine runs GREAT and even runs all my old software from win95 on up which XP wouldnt. 90 percent of peoples computer problems are caused by themselves!

Whew… Too many variables. Vista is fine for the vast majority of the 100 Million users of it. Does it have bugs, yes? Does Windows XP or Linux have bugs? Yes. They all do.

Be careful what you read. Windows Vista with SP2 is considered to be a mature, solid operating system. That said, it is NOT as forgiving on poorly written applications or designed hardware. It has a higher degree of security which gets in the way of ’sloppy’ security practice users. THOSE AREAS are the main areas where people have faulted it in the past. Microsoft is working with 1000’s reputable vendors to support Windows continuously, there are simply too many variables. And many vendors of hardware and software simply skip the Microsoft certification since it costs too much time and energy. So…. you get what you pay for.

Try this: Figure out what is IMPORTANT TO YOU, and then ask your question again about YOUR needs. The fact that a random piece of hardware won’t work on Vista is un-important unless YOU have that piece of hardware. Whether SIMS3 works on Linux is un-important unless YOU want to run SIMS-3 on Linux. It is VERY EASY to get on the ‘band-wagon’ with all the die-hard conspiracy-theory types who want to throw a monkey wrench in the works.

fact: Windows XP is a commercial success introduced in 2001.
fact: Windows Vista with SP2 is considered the modern commercial version of Windows
fact: Linux is a great choice if you are familiar with Linux and your desired applications are available for Linux
fact: Many games have not been written for Linux.
fact: Photoshop and many other commercial apps are not available for Linux.

Suggestion: Don’t worry about all of the issues that COULD arise, figure out what YOU want and then challenge your hardware and software purchases to do THAT really well!

For my money, given the goal of a SOLID machine, running a long-term supported operating system, with HIGH quality applications, I would buy a name brand PC running Vista after July-1st, only add Microsoft certified hardware accessories, and then upgrade to WIndows-7 at the end of the year if desired. (Note, there will be NO migration for Windows XP to Windows-7, so that is likely a short-term plan if you choose XP).

Also window media center is not in Windows 7 .
Windows movie maker and windows photo gallery is not in Windows 7

Well I guess I just make you a liar because I am using windows 7 and all of the features are here right in front of me and I am using them.

Are you trying to embrace Linux so that people will choose Linux.
Not in a million years Linux will only be one step behind technology.
It’s a open source software that means your average Joe is the one that’s working on it.
That’s why it will always be behind.
Windows Vista and windows 7 have the same features why don’t you try it it’s free for one year, then you’ll know what it has to offer.
